As part of the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office’s ongoing Outreach Programme, the BR Team successfully visited schools of Kudarikilu, Kamadhoo and Kihaadhoo. These visits were carried out from 14 April to 16 April 2026 under the BR Schools Programme, an initiative launched in 2026 to strengthen awareness and engagement among students and teachers.
Interactive information sessions were conducted in all three schools, focusing on the significance, conservation efforts, and importance of the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve. The programme is designed to target students from Grade 7 and above and includes both classroom-based learning and planned field visits within the atoll to enhance practical understanding.
The BR Schools Programme will be progressively implemented across all inhabited islands in Baa Atoll, ensuring broad participation and impact among youth.
A total of 87 students from the four islands participated in these initial sessions.
Earlier this year, prior to the commencement of the academic year, the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve team visited all schools in the atoll. During these visits, meetings were held with senior management teams to discuss collaboration opportunities and identify areas of support that the Biosphere Reserve Office could extend to schools.
