Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Office under the Ministry of Environment and Energy was opened in the capital of Baa Atoll, Eydhafushi by President Dr.Mohamed Waheed on 13 June 2012.
The BR Office is responsible for leading and coordinating implementation of the Biosphere Reserve Strategy which comprises three programmes: Conservation Programme, Learning and Research Programme and Livelihoods and Sustainable Development Programme.
All technical assistance to the BR Office is provided by Environmental Protection Agency while administrative assistance is provided by the Ministry of Environment.
