BR Team meets Dusit Thani Maldives
The Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office convened a meeting with the management team of Dusit Thani Maldives to further strengthen collaboration on conservation initiatives within the atoll.
The meeting was attended by the Baa Atoll Conservation Fund Manager, Mr. Abdulla Shibau, along with other senior officials from the Baa BR Office. Representing the resort, Mr. Jean-Louis Ripoche, Maldives Area General Manager, participated together with members of the resort’s management team.
Discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in the monitoring and management of protected areas (PAs), while also exploring opportunities for joint initiatives and broader areas of mutual interest. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of effective monitoring within protected areas, which is essential for safeguarding biodiversity, evaluating ecosystem health, and ensuring that conservation measures achieve their intended outcomes. Continuous monitoring further enables evidence-based decision-making, facilitates early detection of environmental pressures such as coral bleaching and habitat degradation, and supports adaptive management approaches to sustain the ecological integrity of the biosphere reserve.
