The Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve (BR) Team has successfully completed visits to all 13 schools across the atoll prior to the start of the academic year as part of the rollout of the BR Schools Programme. Conducted from 25 January to 31 January, these visits introduced a structured initiative targeting students from Grade 7 and above, integrating classroom-based learning with planned field visits within the atoll to enhance practical understanding.
The BR Schools Programme is designed to strengthen awareness, knowledge, and engagement among both students and teachers. It will be progressively implemented across all inhabited islands of Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, ensuring broad participation and a meaningful impact among youth. As part of the programme, interactive information sessions will be conducted in all schools, focusing on the significance, conservation efforts, and global importance of the Biosphere Reserve.
During the school visits, the BR Team led by by the Baa Atoll Conservation Fund Manager Mr.Abdulla Shibau also met with senior management teams to explore opportunities for further collaboration and to identify areas where the Biosphere Reserve Office can extend support. These discussions aimed to strengthen environmental education and foster deeper engagement at the school level.
